Why Harships and not Race?

I agree that economic hardship should be a factor in the decisions that are made for the acceptance committee. However, why do you feel that race should not be a factor?

Because race is not an intrinsic human property, it is a social construction. There is no biological basis for race, and it its largely made up. That is not to say that ethnicity (where your family is from) or culture (your family, social groups traditions and arts) or class (the socio-economics of your upbringing) are not real. But race doesn't mean anything. Race is made up names we made for other people.
